We have been given the opportunity to give the Expedition Rangers a REAL treat during Pow Wow. We will have an Aquaman SCUBA Experience for them to participate in. They will have the chance to do some REAL SCUBA DIVING while at camp! Here is a note from the instructor

The event will take place after the Saturday night service and will last approximately 3 1/2 hours!

SCUBA Experience:

During this experience, young men will go through the basic safety procedures for enjoyable scuba diving under the watchful eye and direct control of an active SCUBA Instructor. they will learn skills such as equalizing your ears, buddy checks, basic buoyancy control, underwater communication, and more. They will also be given an introduction to basic scuba equipment followed by an underwater tour in the local pool.

Water Safety: 

During this section, young men will go through the basics of proper actions in and around water. They will be delivered this by an Active Public Safety Dive Instructor and Swift water rescue instructor. Their Instructor will show them how to properly wear a personal flotation device, how to properly get in and out of water safely.

Underwater Knots:

Expedition Rangers will be shows and have a chance to practice knot tying underwater. We will go over 3 basic knots that is common for Public Safety Divers and Commercial divers. This will give them a chance to show off their skills underwater; so brush up on those knots.

 

Please read over each section of the waiver carefully YOU MUST HAVE A COMPLETED AND CORRECT WAIVER TO PARTICIPATE, THE WAIVER CAN BE DOWNLOADED BY CLICKING HERE 

If a person has a medical issue that is listed on the medical waiver, then they will have to have a Physicians Sign off that clears them for the Scuba Experience being offered.

Furthermore, on the Medical Waiver they MUST answer by writing in full “YES” or “NO”. There may be no cross through or corrections. If the form is changed or written through they will need to print off a new form and have it completed. WE ARE NOT ABLE to accept forms that are not properly completed. 

Ensure each Participant comes prepared and if they have questions we may be contacted directly by parents to go over any questions they may have.

FROM OUR FCF PRESIDENT

Commanders and Rangers,

This year’s POW WOW is a unique opportunity to join Frontiersman Camping Fellowship (FCF)!

FCF is a special program of Royal Rangers that provides boys and men with additional opportunities to develop specialized outdoor skills based on the lore and traditions of the early American Frontiersman.

To be eligible:

Rangers: 11 years old and a graduate of the 5th grade, must have been awarded the Discovery Rangers Gold Medal or the Adventure Rangers Bronze Medal or the Expedition Ranger E-1 Medal.

Adults: Earn the Ready and Safety levels of Outpost Leaders Advancement levels of training.

NOTE: If you have completed Ranger Basics, Ranger Essentials, Safety in the Church, First Aid/CPR training, Read the book “Maximized Manhood” and the pamphlet “Preventing Child and Substance Abuse” you have the requirements of the two leader advancements. If you have not done so, fill out the advancement applications, submit to the District Training Coordinator, Chris Hand, and sign up for FCF!!!!

The FCF Frontier Adventure will begin after Friday night’s service. We will have the candidates meet at a certain location and they will be escorted to the FCF Village. The Candidates will sleep in a lodge at the village. Candidates will be escorted to breakfast and back and will complete their FCF skills training and testing.

Download the FCF Frontiersman Workbook from the National FCF website. You will need to

review the workbook and memorize two Bible verses; Matthew 22:37-40 and John 13:35.
